New Equipment & Repair Inspections
Specifications: BRER can work with your existing specification, recommend improvements or write entirely new documents that assure industry quality standards will be met for both new construction and repair. Shop Inspection: It is important that inspectors have the experience necessary to command the respect of the shop. Experienced inspectors monitor progress in the shop using industry accepted test methods like: • Barcol Hardness • Acetone sensitivity • Magnetic thickness • Visual In addition, BRER has the option of using advanced NDE methods to assure compliance with the design and industry quality standards. Normally, it is impossible for inspectors to determine if the correct number of laminate plies were used in a given section of the laminate, except by measuring overall thickness. With our advanced UT system, we can tell if plies are missing. Normally, it is impossible to tell if there is bridging (long, often interconnected air voids between strands of fiber) behind the corrosion barrier in a filament wound product. With UT, we can detect it and with X-ray, it can be quantified. Lab Testing: Supervised testing in a local University instrument center allows us to use some of the most advanced testing available, including IR spectroscopy (resin chemistry), Calorimeter (cure), Resin to glass ratios (burn-out) measurements of core samples are available in house. Field Inspection: Assuring quality repair is integral to PM. Studies show that field repairs are far more likely to fail in service. A good specification and experienced inspection can prevent many common field variables from negatively affecting your long-term service life. |
